I am Weasel

The Weasel Light Reconnaissance Vehicle showed up at Modern Day Marine 2015, but its German maker is hoping the U.S. Army will adopt it for scout units.

The tiny armored vehicle recently participated in a two-week vehicle assessment at Fort Benning, Georgia in August along with five other companies as part of the Army’s effort to equip cavalry squadrons a light reconnaissance vehicle.

The vehicle would need to have enough firepower to destroy enemy recon formations. It would also allow them to provide security for light infantry on an approach march in ground mobility vehicles.

vara bungas: Ir vērts palasīt komentus zem raksta, visu to pašu var attiecināt uz CVR(t), ja tie netiks izmantoti kā platformas PT un PGA ieroču sistēmām.

3 domas par “I am Weasel

  1. Graubem pēc pēdējās diskusijas kāds piegāja klāt un pajautāja, kas bija tie pārējie pretendenti uz kāpurķēžu iepirkuma troni?

    Mīļākais komentārs:
“Have they checked the vehicle’s emissions reporting software?….”

    • man patika šis, jo LRV nav pilnvērtīga bruņa kājniekiem

I was a scout. Had M114s . gun jeeps, M113s, M551 Sharidens. and humvees. All had shortcommings. You actually need at least 3 separate vehicles. Anything designed for rough terrain won’t be good for MOUT. If you’re the point of the sword going into a big foreign country with the Big Red One behind you, you need an armored tracked vehicle. If you’re moving fast across open terrain only a helicopter will be superior to a dirt bike. It has to be flexible. If it doesn’t work in swamps the enemy will only fight you in swamps.
Why the complaints that it’s a tight squeeze for 6? There’s no reason to have more than 3 in a scout vehicle. I loved my M114. It had a crew of 3. Driver, TC, and observer. The rubber band track was quiet the silhouette was low, and the 20mm would dispatch any op***ing scout. an updated version would have room for the observer to employ drones.
