That plan essentially calls for the constant presence of a third brigade in Europe. Two are already permanently stationed in Europe — a Stryker brigade and an airborne brigade. In addition to these three combat brigades, the United States has agreed to commit one battalion to be stationed on the eastern flank, according to Heather Conley, director of the Europe Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a think tank in Washington, D.C.[..] In addition to the U.S., Germany and the United Kingdom have also pledged to commit a battalion to the effort. vara bungas: Tātad klāt divām jau esošajām pastāvīgām US brigādem Eiropā klāt nāks vēl viena – pagaidu, bet “tripwire” funkciju Centrāleiropā un Baltijas valstīs nodrošinās 3 bataljoni – pa vienam no US, UK un DE. FR tusiņā nepiedalās.
Ppapildu US BTG Eiropā, neapšaubāmi ir reāls ieguldījums vispirms jau rietumeiropas drošībā, kamēr viesbataljons ziemeļaustrumos ir drīzāk simbolisks PR žests, kas neatrisina nevienu Baltijas aizsardzības problēmu un objektīvi vērtējot nerada ne mazāko apdraudējumu RU. Zālmana cienīgs risinājums.
Kamēr nav zināms vieskaravīru precīzs izvietojums, atliek cerēt, ka Baltijas valstīm tiks vismaz pa rotai, kas parādīs mūsu virsaišiem kā jāizskatās labi ekipētas modernas armijas sauszemes spēkiem, ko tik un tā mums būs jābūvē pašiem. Tas ir liels pluss šim pasākumam.
