The Latvian National Armed Forces (LNAF) have successfully completed the first stage in the roll-out of the SitaWare command-and-control (C2) software suite, with its fielding in Latvian Land Forces units under way. Estonia has been using locally developed KOLT since at least 2019. There really isn’t much information about it, but apparently it is quite functional.
what about compatibility? rhetoric question. EE procured KOLT probably in 2017.-2018. LT adopted SitaWare NLT 2018. LV did the same in 2020 and probably after comparison of both or more options. Being late for party not always is a crime 🙂
It was in full use by EDF since 2019, but was in development much earlier. Compatibility would be nice though. Like I said, not much is publicly known about it, so I can’t say what benefits or drawbacks it might have. There was definitely a lot of work behind it though. I guess one of the benefits for EDF might be that they have full control over absolutely all aspects of the system, as opposed to simply buying a black box.
Like with any software there are gains and losses. One can use MS Word or OpenOffice writer or own product, most important that we can equally exchange our writings.
Hope that Division North HQ has figured that out.
