vara bungas: Tikai viens no viedokļiem, bet diezgan populārs. Tēze it kā neskar NATO, lai gan reti kad US ir darbojusies viena bez sabiedrotajiem.  Ja šādi uzskati pārņems US vēlētājus,  eiropieši, irākieši, sīrieši un citi -ieši turpmāk pamatā paši risinās savas drošības problemas ar vai bez US atbalsta, atkarībā no tā vai tas kalpo vai nekalpo US stratēģiskajiem mērķiem. Pašreizējā pasaulē RU nav US galvenais sāncensis (RU  ir reģionāla nevis globāla lielvara), US nākotnes drošības prioritāšu sarakstā PSRS vietu ir ieņēmusi Ķīna. Attiecīgi Ķīnas savaldīšanai tiks veidotas neloģiskas alianses, gaidāmas negaitītas vienošanās un visāda citāda netipiska aktivitāte. Visi galvenie brīnumi vēl priekšā.

NATO’s European members are skillfully playing the president, praising him for forcing them to hike expenditures. But outlays were already edging up, and the increases are modest. [..] avots
